My Story
In 2006 I was asked to order from a friend at work. She was selling this wickless candle thing. I half heartedly took a look at the book. I loved burning candles so wasn’t really interested but bought one anyway. OMG I was in Love, but with no information on how to get in touch with the consultant I went back to burning candles. One day I was putting the lid back on a jar candle and the whole thing exploded. I thought “that’s it no more candles”. It was around that time that my friend Gail had found a lady in town that was selling Scentsy. One stop at her house and I was hooked again. No soot, no smoke, no open flame who wouldn’t love it. I thought everyone I knew needed one. My husband and I would stop by Keturah’s house and pick up warmers and bars all the time. I could always find a reason to stop by, friend’s birthday, mother’s day; because I think she would just love it. I got to a point where it didn’t matter what she had I would buy it. Marty finally said you have to sign up to sell this stuff. You are spending too much money over here. I was a very happy buyer and thought I could never sell anything. So to shut him up I thought I would give it a try. No way was I ever going to do more than just sell enough to get my own discount. I was not a sales person. I didn’t want to do parties because I had no confidence. I had all the confidence in the world about the product but none in myself. So the basket party became my way of doing things. I had a full time job so it just worked right in. All of a sudden I had basket parties going left and right and people wanted to sign up. They were saying “OMG this is so easy I can do this”! I started to build a team and started to build a little bit of confidence. I thought I was finding a spot in this world that was just for me. The next summer Marty went with me to convention and although he had always been behind me connecting with Orville that summer made all the difference in the world to my/our business. He saw a big picture other than just selling a candle. We had found something that we could work at together. We could have fun and make money with Scentsy. We put a 5 year plan into effect and started to take our business seriously.Together we have built a wonderful team and have started making enough money for Marty to submit my resignation from my full time job of 12 years. We are now working toward Marty retiring from his job of more than 28 years. We have enjoyed trips and awards with Scentsy that we could have never had. The connection with my husband and our team is a feeling that I just cannot put into words. What I can say is that I now have more confidence than I ever had before and although Marty and I have always been very close there is a connection now that is Priceless.We were given the title of Shining Star in 2009 and have made it all the way to Super Star Directors. I now know that with Scentsy I have found the true me! We have an Amazing team and the family connection with them is one I could not live without.
